Akwa Ibom State Government on Tuesday warned the Federal Government, Seplat and other interested parties to stay clear of the acquisition of the shares of ExoonMobil. Reacting to the development, Akwa Ibom Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Uko Essien Udom (SAN) faulted the statement issued by the President’s Spokesman, Femi Adesina to the effect that the deal had been approved by Buhari. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied recognizing Ahmad Lawan and Godswill Akpabio as senatorial candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The commission said this in reaction to a report which claimed it “backdated” the certified true copies of its report on the APC primaries to accommodate some aspirants. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates. Head of the Nigeria National Office, Mr. Patrick E. Areghan who announced the release of the results at a news briefing in Lagos on Monday stated that a total of 79,229 examiners, comprising 77,173 traditional examiners and 2,056 e-examiners, participated in the coordination and marking of the exam scripts. President Muhammadu Buhari has consented to the acquisition of Exxon Mobil shares in the United States of America by Seplat Energy Offshore Limited in a $1.28 billion deal announced in February. Buhari, who doubles as Minister of Petroleum Resources, granted ministerial approval to the deal, the presidency said in a statement on Monday. Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has defended her Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles title after notching the first position on Sunday at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
