A one-time Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Information and Culture, Sunday Ekpo, has died. Ekpo, who died Tuesday, July 20, served as the Commissioner during the reign of Akwa Ibom military administrator, Brig. Yakubu Bako (retired). Born on September 19, 1954, he hailed from Ubolo Oro in Udung Uko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. An alumnus of University of Lagos, Ekpo commonly nicknamed ‘Express’ once served as a branch manager of the defunct Mercantile Bank of Nigeria. Bishop David Oyedepo, founder/General Overseer of Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel has given reason for sacking 40 pastors of the church. This came shortly after a certain Pastor Peter Godwin of the Winners Chapel, claimed that the church sacked him and about 40 other pastors in Ekiti State for failing to grow their respective parishes. Amid gas and transmission problems, power generation in Nigeria dropped below the 4,000 megawatts during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration on Tuesday. The total generation in the country stood at 3,958.7MW as of 6am on Tuesday, down from 4,270.7MW on Monday, according to data obtained from the Nigerian Electricity System Operator. On Monday, the peak generation stood at 4,611MW, while the lowest generation was 3,732.1MW, the NESO data showed.
