Nigeria Friday night recorded 591 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 39,000. Unlike the 20 infections Akwa Ibom recorded on Thursday, the state has recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 208. Akwa Ibom State on Thursday reported 20 new COVID-19 cases as Nigeria’s infections inches closer to 39,000. With this number, the total tally of infections in the state now stands at 196. An investigation has been ordered into allegations of a missing N100 billion from the coffers of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) established in 2017 to reconstruct states affected by insurgency in the North-East Region.
