After a prolonged battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran Nollywood actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has joined the celestial hosts. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2. According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. Augustine Eguavoen, the Nigerian Football Federation Technical director, has reportedly taken over as the Super Eagles interim coach following the exit of Portuguese tactician, Jose Peseiro. Binance Nigeria is in dire straits as the Federal Government slammed a $10 billion fine on the crypto currency trading platform. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, confirmed this to the BBC Friday morning. Binance is an online exchange where users can trade cryptocurrencies. Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu has reinstated Prof. Itam Hogan Itam, as the Village Head of Obufa Obio Ukem, Clan Head of Efut Ukem, Muri Munene, and Paramount Ruler of the Efuts. The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has announced the successful reimbursement of depositors affected by the closure of 179 microfinance banks and four mortgage banks nationwide. Dr. Bello Hassan, the Managing Director of the NDIC, stated this during the NDIC Special Day at the 45th Kaduna International Trade Fair on Thursday. Amid rebuttals of payment of N30 billion to governors to resolve food crisis, Nigeria’s Senate President Godswill Akpabio has made a U-turn and apologized for making the claim. Contract worth N1.07 trillion was Monday approved by Federal Executive Council for the construction of the first phase of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Announcing a resolution of the FEC’s meeting, Works Minister Dave Umahi said the pilot phase consist a 47.47-kilometer dual carriage way of five lanes on each side and a train track on the middle.
