The bodies of two children murdered by unknown persons in Obiokpok village in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State for undisclosed reason were discovered on the table top freezer of their father.

This was brought to the public glare by the father of the deceased children, Aniekan Sunday Billie when he lodged the complaint of the killings at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.

Billie narrated that he locked the children in his room and left for Kpokpo market to buy food items for the household. “On my return, I saw the lifeless bodies of the two children: Godwin Sunday, nine (m) and Idara Sunday, five (f) on my table top freezer,” he narrated.

Out of the three children in the house, he said the only person the assailants did not kill is his one year and seven months old Godspower Sunday, ‘m’.

DSP Bala Elkana, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, confirmed the report saying the matter was reported to the police around 14:35hrs.

“One Aniekan Sunday-Billie, ‘m’ of Obiokpok in Nsit Ibom LGA came to the station and reported that on December 5, 2017, about 14:35hrs, that he locked his three children, one Godwin Sunday, ‘m’, aged 9; one Idara Sunday, ‘f’, aged 5, and one Godspwer Sunday, aged a year and seven months, inside his room at Mbioporo 1 and went to Urua Kpokpo to buy food items.

“That on his return, he saw the lifeless bodies of two of his children, Godwin and Idara inside his table top freezer.”

The Police, he said, have begun intensive and extensive investigation to unravel those that were behind the murder of the two children.
