Ibom Air, one of Nigeria’s airlines, says it has flown more than 1.5 million passengers in its three years of existence.

The airline commenced operations on June 7 2019 when a Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft marked Ibom Air took off from Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, with government officials on board, en route to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

In a statement signed by its management on June 7, 2022, the airline said that the airline conducted 22,000 flights, based on the promise of schedule reliability.

“Friday the 7th of June 2019, exactly three years ago, Ibom Air commenced scheduled commercial flight operations with an inaugural flight from Uyo to Lagos.

“Three years down the line, with over one and a half million passengers flown and about 22,000 flights later, Ibom Air has come to be known for its brand promise of schedule reliability, on-time departures and excellent service,” the statement celebrating its three years of service read.

Ibom Air’s Chief Operating Officer, George Uriesi, was full of gratitude to the company’s management and the Akwa Ibom government for the opportunity to fly.

Uriesi said, “We are humbled by the overwhelming public acceptance and goodwill we have enjoyed from the Nigerian travelling public, which has motivated us to remain resolute and determined to keep pushing the envelope as we contribute our quota to the growth and stability of the aviation industry in Nigeria and Africa.”

The airline disclosed plans to give back to its community a chance to win free tickets and a private screening of a movie to thank its numerous customers.

It also plans to expand to regional routes later this year.
