The Uyo Senatorial District Peoples Initiative (USPI) has called on Akwa Ibom Governor-elect, Pastor Umo Eno, to bring his enterpreneurial acumen to bear on the administration of the state.
USPI also called on Pastor Umo Eno to bring his prowess to the industrial advancement and manpower development of the state, and used the opportunity to thank God for giving him to Akwa Ibom.
This was contained in a congratulatory message to Pastor Umo Eno on his overwhelming success at the poll signed by USPI Chairman, Pastor Samuel Edet, Ph.D; Secretary, Hon Otobong Edemidiong, and all the chapter coordinators.
The body used the forum to thank its members for returning PDP in their various polling units.
USPI attributed the success at the polls to what cooperation, determination and staying focused on a chosen goal could achieve, calling on its members to continue in that spirit as the incoming administration tries to build a new Akwa Ibom State for the good of all.
‘‘The period of politicking was over and that it was time to join hands with the incoming administration to raise Akwa Ibom of our dream. In this regard, we call on all former candidates on all other political parties to put politics aside and join in the development processes of Akwa Ibom State,’’ USPI admonished.
Similarly, the USPI leadership has commended the nine local government council chairmen of Uyo Senatorial District for standing by the socio-political organization in the course of the body’s campaign for all PDP candidates.
A statement issued in Uyo and signed by its Chairman, Pastor Samuel Edet, said it was proud of the council chairmen who worked tirelessly to enthrone good leadership in the state.
The USPI applauded the chairmen for investing their time, energy and resources into the project and thanked God that their investment was not in vain.
The body particularly thanked the chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Ekpoimo Polycarp Edet, for his superlative performance in the area.
It noted that although the YPP won in the area, the chairman showed political prowess, capacity and unshakable belief in the PDP by winning in his unit in spite of the violence and criminal acts of the opposition.
‘‘This, again, is in spite of the blackmail that he was supporting the other party,’’ USPI observed.
The body described the accomplishment of the council chairmen as a demonstration of the fact that with determination, hard work and the right leadership, what may be thought to be impossible could be realised.
The USPI, therefore, called on the incoming administration to ensure that it justifies the trust and confidence reposed in it by of the people of the state when it assumes office saying that to whom much is given, much is expected.
