The Contractors Association of Nigeria Delta Development Commission (CA-NDDC) has suspended its President, Mr. Sylvester Tonye Iyade over alleged gross- misconduct, non-performance, incompetence, deliberate refusal to convene meetings and abuse of office.
A release signed by five executive members of the association and made available to news men said the decision to remove Mr. Iyade was part of the resolutions passed at the joint meeting of the Registered Trustees and National Executive Officers of the Contractors Association of NDDC (CA-NDDC), held on October 9, 2024, at Villa Toscana Deluxe, Port Harcourt.
The resolution was also as a result of subsequent meetings in 2025 over a vote of no confidence moved against him by Sir Richard Ajua (Treasurer) and seconded by Saviour ljeoma (Financial Secretary) and Benjamin Okundia (Edo State Representative).
“Furthermore, on February 23, 2025, another meeting was held at Le Meridien Hotel, presided over by Vice President Mr. Sunny Benstowe and observed by board member Ambassador Prince Victor Fakar.
“At this meeting, an additional vote of no confidence was passed due to lack of transparency and accountability, as well as continued refusal to convene or attend executive meetings.
“As a result, Mr. lyade’s impeachment and suspension were reaffirmed.
“In accordance with this decision, we formally request that all relevant authorities, stakeholders, and affiliated bodies immediately cease any official dealings with Mr. Sylvester Tonye lyade in any capacity related to CA-NDDC.

“Additionally, we mandate that all association documents, assets, and properties in his possession be handed over to the Vice President Mr. Sunny Benstowe 161 ABA ROAD., PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE.
“We trust in your cooperation to facilitate a smooth transition in leadership and uphold the integrity of our association. Should you require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us,” the release reads.
However, some members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) have issued a statement refuting the suspension and vote of no confidence against Mr. Sylvester Tonye Iyade. They described the actions taken by the executive as null and void.
