Media professionals in Akwa Ibom State who retired from the public service have been challenged to leverage on their experiences by contributing positively to the improvement of the media sector and betterment of the state and the country at large.

They have also been charged to continue to commit their ways unto the Lord and walk with Him in spirit and in truth so as to attain more successes and enjoy more of His tangible blessings.

A senior member of The Apostolic Church, Okon Mbaba Street, Uyo, Dick Akpan gave the charge in his exhortation when members of the Forum of Retired Media Amazons led by their President, Deaconess Ekaette Ekpo converged in the church auditorium to thank God for His all-round benefits towards them.

Akpan, an elder in the church assured the retired media Amazons that though challenges would surely show up in their life’s journey, they should stay focused on God in order not to see shame.

God’s servant lauded the foresight of the Amazons in coming together as a body and their decision to appreciate God and testify to His faithfulness during and after their service years.

While also commending their initiative to recognise and put God first before other activities of the Forum for the year, Akpan particularly congratulated the media women on the successful completion of their public service years, admonishing them not to sit on the fence but to continue to be relevant in the society.

The President of the Forum of Retired Media Amazons, Mrs Ekpo said they were in the church to appreciate and thank God for seeing them through their service years successfully and for His continued protection, provision and good health.

Mrs. Ekpo who is also a former General Manager of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, publisher of The Pioneer newspaper announced the intention of the forum to reciprocate God’s faithfulness by engaging in activities that would further enhance the media profession, the development of the society, and bring glory to God.

The thanksgiving service which was attended by Deaconess Christy Obot, Lady Mercy Otu, Deaconess Eme Atakpo, Mrs. Elsie Udofia and Obonganwan Freena Akpanusong, featured special prayers and a whole lots more.
