    The corpse of a dreaded kidnap kingpin-sea pirate, Ubong Effiong Archibong, has been deposited in the morgue by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.  
    This was as the command neutralised the criminal gang led by Ubong that allegedly abducted several individuals including the state High Court Judge, Justice Joy Unwana and killed her orderly,
    The suspect was shot dead during a gun battle at his hideout in Cross River State on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
    The spokesperson of the command, ASP Timfon John, who stated this in a statement on Thursday, August 29, 2024, said the suspect’s stock in trade was to kidnap, kill, maim and cause havoc in the society.

    “The kingpin, Ubong Effiong Archibong (M) alias condiment, a gang leader of bling marine strike force terrorizing Uruan/Oron Waterways were responsible for the kidnapping of a High Court Judge Joy Unwana and the k!lling of her Police orderly Inspector ThankGod Edet, the gruesome murder of the CEO Emem and Sons Nig. Ltd and kidnapping of his sales rep,” the statement read.
    “The suspect was also responsible for the kidnap of Pharmacist Joemel as well as responsible for the kidnap of Mr Brown CEO of Mingles Hotel.
    “The suspect was neutralized during a gun battle with operatives of the Command in his hideout at Uyanga Community in Cross River State.
    “One G3 riffle with four live ammunition was recovered from the suspect. The corpse of the suspect was recovered and deposited at the morgue. Investigations with full intent to arrest other members of the gang are ongoing.”
    The statement reassured Akwa Ibom people of the determination of the Police Command to constantly make Akwa Ibom a safe and secure place for businesses to thrive.
    The command called on Akwa Ibom people to report all suspicious movements to the police with a promise that the Police are determined to serve with all amount of professionalism.
