Apostle Nyeneime Andy, the Senior Pastor of The Holy Ghost Ambassadors Ministry International, Akwa Ibom State, has advised married women facing domestic violence to seek help from others to avoid them dying in the marriage.
The advice comes after the controversial death of a Nigerian popular gospel singer, Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu of Ekwueme fame linked to domestic violence.
In his Facebook page, Andy wrote ”Don’t Die in Marriage. Wives don’t die in marriage. You’ll still make Heaven without being killed by a brutal husband.’’
”If you need to talk to someone to help you pls do. This is a true life story. If your husband is beating you, seek for help. If you keep quiet, you might end up in the grave.

”Read this: A wife had a fight with the husband and he broke bottles on her head. When I was called, I told her to leave the house first before I discuss with her. She left and I advised her not to go back. Today, she is alive, still serving God.
”Working hard to take care of her children. When we as Pastors keep teaching wives to endure the beating, when she dies, we will still be the one to comfort the family. My dear daughters, call me when your husband beats you let me cast out that demon in him.
”I also blame our men and women of God. We are too religious. Our daughters are dying in marriages and we are still encouraging them to endure. Let’s start a teaching series on.
“Protecting the wife “. If you’re facing marital abuse, My line is open to help.
#STOPTHEABUSEOFWOMEN. Don’t die in silence. You’ll still make heaven without him.
Reacting too, Oby Ezekweli, ex-Nigerian Minister of Education wrote ‘’The death of Osinachi Nwachukwu of the epic *Ekwueme* worship song really hit hard. To read allegations of spousal abuse worsens the pain. I hope the truth is unearth and justice given. Everyone, including Churches must take issues of Violence Against Women seriously. Urgently!’’
Another Nigerian woman, Uchenna, who survived domestic violence has narrated how she fled to her parents’ house with her children.
Taking to Facebook following gospel singer, Osinachi’s death, the Educator recalled how a man blamed her for not begging her abusive husband.
She wrote, “Osinachi had been experiencing intense domestic violence and people knew. I saw some NDDC person, Frank Edwards and obviously influential people knew….but what did they do. The abuser still succeeded.”
Just this week, an adult male…a grandfather or soon to be one….blamed me for not begging my abuser. I told him he’d have preferred me dead and truly…. doesn’t it seem like what the Nigerian community and churches too want???
Because I don’t understand the level of ignorance that’ll make the situation all hush hush, instead of using it to preach strongly and warn and teach the church…of course the guy should be in jail while all these are going on.
”Ha! God bless the 20th of July, 2019. Whatever got into me and carried me home, to my parents’ house in the village ….I didn’t even have funds for the taxi driver that took us to my village that day … Guzzie was taken almost immediately to the hospital in Owerri to be seen by a paediatrician, Chukwuemeka Nwolisa … my dad took care of the bills. That’s to show how financially empty I was …but I wasn’t afraid…. I wasn’t even thinking.
”I saw the life in front of me…that of freedom and love and abundance … the average Nigerian community wanted me to stay back and be ‘submissive’ to the one who was ready to take away my life and that of the children. Truly, at the time, I hoped he’d apologise and beg for once and we’d go back. Thank God it didn’t happen.
”This woman’s death is painful. Osinachi, rest in peace. I left alive… we left alive. I’m proud of us… I’m proud of our move… I’m proud of our survival. #iloveus #traumahealing.”
