Easter Sunday: He Is Risen- Proclaims Pope Francis

Today, April 4, 2021 is set aside by Christians as Easter Sunday all over the world to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Easter Sunday comes three days after Good Friday, and the Saturday before Easter is also considered holy by many and it is called Holy Saturday.

Each year, Easter is determined by the Lunar Calendar of the Church, and the Sunday after the Paschall Full Moon is considered to be Easter Sunday.

The Bible in Romans 6:9 says, We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.

According to the Biblical story, after Jesus’ crucifixion, His body was wrapped in linen, and  was buried in the tomb owned by Joseph of Arimathea.

The tomb was then covered with a massive stone. It is also believed that on Sunday morning, angels rolled the stone away, and Jesus walked out of the tomb.

To every Christian believer, the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises His victory over sin and death.

Pope Francis, in his Twitter handle on Sunday, wrote ”Dear brother, dear sister: if on this night you are experiencing an hour of darkness, a day that has not yet dawned, a light dimmed or a dream shattered, open your heart with amazement to the message of #Easter.

“Do not be afraid, He has risen!” Pope proclaimed.

Pat Daily, Director of Education, Halton Catholic District School Board, tweeted “In these dark months of the pandemic listen to the Risen Lord as He invites us to begin anew and never lose hope.”

Jacob Rees-Mogg, Conservative MP for North East Somerset and Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons, declared ”Christ is risen, Alleluia, He is risen indeed, Alleluia!’’
