Belgium striker, Romelu Lukaku, has paid tribute to Christian Eriksen after the Denmark midfielder collapsed during his country’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland on Saturday.
Lukaku, who scored a brace in Belgium’s 3-0 win against Russia, sprinted over to a television camera and aimed his face into the screen and shouted: “Chris, Chris… [Christian Eriksen] I love you,” before delivering a message of love to the midfielder.
Recall that Eriksen had earlier fallen to the floor during Denmark’s opener against Finland.
The former Tottenham star was resuscitated on the pitch, with players and fans watching on in distressing scenes.
He was conscious when he was stretchered off, and he reportedly spoke to his teammates from a hospital bed before they resumed their match, but Denmark eventually lost 1-0 to Finland.
Meanwhile, Lukaku and Eriksen are both club teammates at Inter Milan.
