As the Yuletide approaches, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is set for massive deployment of 26,000 regular marshals and 15,000 Special Marshals to stem accidents in the country.
To enhance its visibility, the Corps will deploy more than 700 patrol vehicles, state-of-the-art ambulances for rescue services at strategic locations.
The FRSC Corps Marshall, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, stated this during the inauguration of FRSC ultra-modern office complex, Akwa Ibom Sector Command, Idoro Road in Uyo local government area on Monday.
Oyeyemi who said the inauguration of the office was part of a management strategy to ensure improved services to the public urged Akwa Ibom people to identify more with the Special Marshals arm of the corps so that they could have Special Marshals and Road Safety clubs across the state.
He said that in the last four years, the Corps has been able to carry out several reforms on its structure to optimally utilise organisational resources and achieve greater productivity.
The Corps marshall said that the Corps’ Staff College was expected to commence academic activities in 2020.
Oyeyemi said that as the yuletide season was fast approaching, the corps has mapped out a strategy to ensure zero tolerance to road crashes.
“To ensure adequate security also, a high level of collaboration is expected to play out between all the nation’s security outfits as we enter the yuletide season.
“This is expected to ensure a hitch-free end of year celebration for Nigerians, “Oyeyemi said.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the funding of the office complex.
He assured that the good working environment would enhance the productivity of personnel in the corps.
Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel urged FRSC to continue to maintain its integrity and discipline that the corps was known for.
Emmanuel said that FRSC over the years had maintained a high level of discipline, integrity, and training of personnel which has kept the corps as thoroughbred professionals.
He tasked the Corps Marshal of FRSC to ensure that under his watch, the corps reached its peak.
“The discipline, integrity, and training that the Corps is known for should continue. The FRSC under your watch will reach a peak.
“As you do your work this Yuletide season, God will protect our people from road crashes during this period.”
Emmanuel said that a good working environment would enhance staff productivity.
