Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has approved new appointments shortly after resumption of duty for second term in office.
A statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant and Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh, and made available to the media, announced Elder Effiong Edem Essien as the new Head of the Civil Service in the state.
A Geologist from the University of Calabar, Essien hails from Afaha Atai, Ibesikpo-Asutan local government area of the state.
Until this appointment, he was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and takes over from Mrs Ekerebong Akpan who retired from service on May 29, 2019.
Emmanuel had on Thursday, while swearing in the reappointed Secretary to the State Government, Mr Emmanuel Ekuwem, assured the State that a new Head of Civil Service would be announced within 24 hours.
Similarly, the Governor’s spokesman also announced the appointment of three new Permanent Secretaries into the State Civil Service.
They are Mr. Imo Bassey Inyang, Mr. Inyang Inyang Jameson and Mr. Effiong Edet Ekpenyong.
All the appointees are to be sworn in at a date to be announced later.
