“I Hope His Wife Meets Him A Virgin” Queries A Girl As  Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet Marries March 17

Some Nigerians have reacted to the marriage proposal of Rev. Fr. Patrick Henry Edet of Grace Family slated for Saturday,  March 17, this year, with a respondent querying “I hope his wife meets him a virgin.”

The decision by the popular Uyo-based cleric and radio preacher, Rev. Fr. Edet, who resigned as a Priest of the Roman Catholic Church, six months ago, has set social media frenzy.

The respondents in Naijagists reacted differently. One Joyful Amaka  posited “I hope his wife meets him a virgin.”  F.M. Akinyemi observed,  “Forced celibacy in the name of God. It is better to marry than to burn in lust and immorality.”

One Mary noted,  “No one is forced to into priesthood; it is a choice and he fell by the way side,” while Ramzat Osupa pointed out, “This man is too handsome to be a priest. His smile alone can brighten a gloomy day. I am sure most women both married and unmarried will be dying to have him.”

Edet is said to have made the announcement Tuesday during his Grace Family Church service.

Though the picture of his fiancée is trending online, it is rumoured that the woman is Uyo-based civil servant.

Last year, Edet had stated that the resignation marked the beginning of ‘freedom’ for his spirit and soul.

Edet said after 11 long years, he strongly felt the need to leave because he was feeling boxed in and it was affecting his personal relationship with God.

He said: “From today henceforth, I cease to be a Catholic Priest, in my spirit and in my soul.

”I forgive those who will criticise me, I live for God. I seek freedom for my soul. As I leave, I leave smiling I am so happy that I am free.”
