As tension builds up on the quit notice to Fulani herdsmen, Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba activist, has cleared air on those he wants to actually leave the Yorubaland.

The Yoruba activist had given Fulani herders in the Igangan area of the state a seven-day ultimatum over the killing of the innocent people.

Based on the quit notice, Presidency was said to have directed the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu to arrest Igboho.

Igboho and his group was said to have stormed the residence of Seriki Fulani in Ibarapa in Oyo State, and allegedly set ablaze the buildings, cars and cows.

From his Twitter handle, he wrote ”I am not against Hausa/Fulani people. I have many of them as friends at Sabo, Ibadan.

”I am totally against the Fulani killer herdsmen, killing and kidnapping our people. Enough is Enough,’’ he concluded.

However, the popular self-styled activist has thanked prominent Yoruba leaders who “spoke up” against his arrest.

In a now-viral video, he expressed gratitude to top monarchs in Yorubaland including Alaafin of Oyo, Igboho also thanked South-west politicians and elder statemen.

Igboho, who spoke in a now-viral video, said he is indebted to people like Dele Momodu, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former governor Ayodele Fayose and former President Olusegun Obasanjo for speaking up against his arrest.

Also, notable among those he mentioned in his appreciation remark are Chief Alao Akala (former Oyo state governor), renowned writer, poet and critic Professor Wole Soyinka.

Barely 24 hours after some Fulani leaders apologised to the people of Oyo state over some crimes by some herders, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders of Nigeria in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Jiji has called for the arrest of Sunday Igboho.

He said: “We want the government to arrest Igboho now. He is not more powerful than the whole country. We want Makinde to consider us as part of his children. We also voted for him in 2019 and we want him to extend his hand of fellowship to us.”

The leader of herders in the state, said Fulanis in the north are now afraid to visit the southwest states for fear of being attacked.

The report said that Makinde, however, stated that Igboho had no powers to give such orders, asking the commissioner of police to treat such acts as criminal.

Jiji begged Makinde to consider Fulani people as his children, saying Yoruba people are doing well in other parts of the country and not being intimidated.

Meanwhile, Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Minister of State for Labour and Productivitiy tweeted on Monday ”Whilst it’s true that there’re criminal issues regarding some herdsmen with which we must deal, most Nigerians don’t know that their so-called ethnic spin to these issues in order vent their personal political frustration on the system.’’
