The All Progressives Congress, Akwa Ibom is disturbed by the kidnap of Senator Nelson Effiong, the party’s big wig.
Senator Effiong who represented Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly was kidnapped on Sunday night in Uyo, the state capital.
A press release signed by Nkereuwem Enyongekere, State Publicity Secretary on Monday, September 6 says, ‘’Our party has been very worried and distressed to learn of the kidnap of Sen. Nelson Effiong, one of our strong Chieftains who is also the immediate past Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State,
”Today, the CTC Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen has on behalf of the party urged the DSS, the Nigerian Police Force and other security outfits in the State to urgently swing into action to bring him back home safe while ensuring that those behind this dastardly act are made to face full wrath of the law.
”The Party therefore advises Sen. Effiong’s family and the general public to liberally provide useful information to the security agencies to aid his rescue from the kidnappers’ den.
”The party will do everything in its power to secure Senator Effiong’s release while enjoining all our party faithful to continue to pray for his safe return to his family and our APC fold soonest,’’ the release added.
