Suspected abductors who whisked away Young Progressives Party Deputy Governorship candidate in Cross River State, Prince Agbor and two others into hideout are demanding N50 million ransom for their freedom.
Agbor was kidnapped alongside an Assistant Superintendent of Nigeria Immigration Service, Godwin Imojara and one Egbung Sandra, in a Toyota Corolla vehicle on Thursday afternoon, March 16, 2023, while he was travelling on the Ikom-Calabar highway to Ogoja where he was posted for Saturday’s governorship election.
Between October 2022 and now, more than 60 motorists and travellers on the axis, were reportedly abducted, including former minister Usani Usani, who escaped death by the whiskers.
The Immigration officer was amongst other travellers in a Toyota Corolla vehicle when the kidnappers struck and took him and two others away.
Our sources say the abductors have demanded N50 million as ransom before the officer would be released.
“An Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Imojara Godwin Imojara was kidnapped in Biase while on his way to Ogoja from Calabar yesterday. He left Calabar at about 3:14pm and was kidnapped at about 3:30pm.
“He was going for special election duty.
Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Cross River State, Irene Ugbo confirmed the incident, adding that they are working to ensure the release of the victims.
“The CP Election has directed that drastic action be taken. It is being worked on. Let us hope and pray that before tomorrow (Saturday), everything will be fine,” Ugbo said.
