Graduates of King’s Kids Christian Schools in Akwa Ibom State have been challenged to put into practice Information, Communication Technology (ICT), Creative Arts, Knitting and Sewing which they were taught to enhance their skills.

The management of the schools comprising Montessori, High school and Basic studies introduced the skill-acquisition subjects to make the students self-reliant and curb unemployment.

Professor Etim I. Udoessien, the Director of the schools who threw the challenge on Thursday, July 15 during the 2021 graduation ceremony for 5th Grade, Reception, Junior Cambridge 3 and Senior Cambridge 3 said ‘’Go for one and pursue the one you have been taught here.’’

Prof. Udoessien who is also the Lead Consultant in the schools speaking at the colourful event held Duellaz Event Centre, Ewet Housing Estate, Donald Etiebet Avenue, Uyo, noted ”As ambassadors of these great citadels of learning, be a positive influence and portray a good image of your school.

”Do not join bad gangs and dissociate yourself from evil. Don’t forget that evil communication corrupts good manners. If sinners entice you, knowing who you are and whose you are, do not consent.’’

The director enjoined the graduates not to forget the Christian principles taught them, saying that ”The outside world might be different from what all of you have experienced here. But always learn to conquer evil by being good.’’

The High School principal, Mrs Queen-Esther Anyanwu, congratulated the graduating students, saying she was proud of them.

Anyanwu noted ”I am very proud of the graduating class of 2021. They have worked very hard to realise their full potential. They have persevered and worked towards achieving their goals in a very determined way.

”Each of you has grown in a way that you should be proud and are now ready to transition to a new exciting chapter in your lives. It is not all about academic achievements but rather about embracing all the various opportunities in sport, music, Fine Art, entrepreneurship and Godly lifestyle.’’

Earlier, the Deputy Head Teacher, Montessori School, Mrs Enang Adeosin, had said ”We are as a team and administration had to focus on core areas which I believe had been the catalyst to our success like the development of collaborative teaching and learning practices, staff really knowing the learners and their needs and the development of environmental education.’’

Adeosin remarked ”The team thrives on change, diversity and progress and also focused on accelerating learning using current theory and evidence to improve professional practice.

”With all these, I am proud to say that our learners are given the highest quality of education which meets the diverse range of our learners’ needs. The drive, passion and determination coupled with skill, knowledge and empathy have seen teaching and learning continuous in raising progress and achievement despite changes,’’ she added.

The event which featured Montessori choir, art exhibition, awards, prizes, choreography and dances, among others was witnessed by the Head of Montessori School/Consultant of Montessori Education, Dr. (Mrs) Cecilia Udoessien; Nicholas Ekarika, a retired Permanent Secretary, Budget Department, Uyo and  Elder Godwin Enoidem, Board Member I, among other dignitaries.

Valedictory speeches were presented by Miss Ruth ThankGod Innocent, Miss Goodluck Etim Udoessien, Master Solomon I. Showel, and Master God’sHonour Winner Eyo.
