Lionel Messi has again put off plans to pen new terms with Barcelona, it has been revealed.

While terms over a new contract have been agreed for at least two months, the forms are still to be signed by the Argentine.

And its now emerging Messi has made a conscious decision to pull back from signing plans over concerns with the Catalonia referendum and where this will leave Barca.

Okdiario pundit Eduardo Inda revealed: “Messi is p***ed off for extra sporting reasons, linked to the referendum and the independence of Catalonia.

“He does not want to play in a minor league and see his value fall. In addition, he’s angry because Barca has always been treated very well and now there is hostility which is only going to increase.”

Inda, speaking on El Chiringuito, says plans for Messi to pen his new contract are now “frozen”.

With his deal to expire in June, Messi continues to be mentioned as a world record target for Manchester City.
