A man from Ikot Inyang Village of Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State who hacked his biological mother to death has landed in police cell.
One Alexander Ben Peter is alleged to have killed his 71 year-old mother, one Mrs. Atiny Ben Peter with matchet.
Addressing the press at Akwa Ibom Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo on Thursday, 19 June, the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, stated ‘‘On the 10th of June 2025 at about 0955hrs base on credible information, the operatives of the Command arrested one Alexander Ben Peter (m) of Ikot Inyang Village Oruk Anam Local Government Area for murdering his biological mother one Mrs. Atiny Ben Peter (f) aged 71yr, and the matchet he use to murder his mother has been recovered and investigation is ongoing, meanwhile the suspect will have his day in court.

‘‘On 1/6/2025 at about 0400hrs, Base on credible information at Command’s disposal, the operatives of the command arrested one Vincent Effiong Edak (m) of Unyenge Community in Mbo Local Government Area. Upon investigation, suspect claimed to have taken possession of the said firearm as it was abandoned by one Uwem Edet Eyo aka “Masterly” (m) who was the third-in-command to a dreaded militant group headed by the late Success Ekpema (m)
The following exhibits were recovered in his house:
1 cut-to-size single barrel gun
2 two cutlasses.
Investigation is ongoing. Suspect will have his day in court
‘‘On the 6th of June, 2025 at about 0630hrs based on credible information at the Command’s disposal, operatives of the Command arrested one Ukpong Benjamin Akpan (m) age 25 yrs, and Christopher Robison (m) aged 28 yrs all of Nkana village of Etinan Local Government Area. For robbing one man (name withheld) of Ikot Umuyia village on the 5th June 2025 at about 20:00hrs along Ikot Umuyia village, Etinan Road who was conveying them to their destination, until they robbed him of his one red Qlink motorcycle which was recovered. Investigation revealed that both suspects are notorious criminals whose stock in trade is robbery of motorcycles. Investigation is still ongoing. Suspects will have their day in court.
‘‘On the 7th of June 2025, at Ekparakwa, operatives of the Command while on-stop-and –search, intercepted a mini-bus (Reg. No. BMT 283 XA) immediately 3 occupants of the bus took to their heels while the driver one Aniekan Clement Timothy (m) in an attempt to escape was arrested and the following items were recovered:
1 mini-bus
4 heavy transformer coils (value yet unknown)
1 torchlight
Assorted tools used in dismantling transformers. Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing.
Azare stated ‘‘On 9/6/2025 at about 0230hrs base on credible intelligence at the Command’s disposal, the Operatives of the Command arrested one Uwem Edet Eyo aka “Masterly” (m) of Unyenge village in Mbo Local Government Area, who took part in the kidnap/killing of three Marine Hunters at Unyenge community in Mbo Local Government Area sometime in August, 2024 and went into hiding.
‘‘The suspect confessed membership of Black Axe secret cult and the kidnapping/killing of the three Marine Hunters who were beheaded and buried in a shallow grave. The following exhibits were recovered from him:
1 cut-to-size single barrel gun
2 locally made pistols
Investigation is still ongoing.’’

‘‘On the 11th of June, 2025 following a credible information reported by a man (name withheld) of Nteke Street Afaha Nsit, Nsit Ibom LGA. Operatives of the Command swung into action and raided a criminal hideout at Afaha Nsit and arrested one Samuel Robert Uko (m), one Tom Mfon Tom (m), one Godwin Akpan (m), one Idongesit Etop (m), one Samuel Victor Udo (m), one Ability Owoidoho (m), one Kufre David James (m) one Idongesit Friday (m) aka TUNDE, all confessed to be members of Debam confraternity cult group.
Upon investigation, the following exhibits were recovered:
1 wooden axe
3 Machetes
1 knife
1 brown beret with a batch and inscription (Neo Lord’s Movement of Africa Axe)
1 Green Beret
1 Red face cap
1 long reggae rope
Investigation is still ongoing as suspects will be charge to court,’’ he added.
