Five rats found to have eaten the money of a Uganda man have incurred his wrath.
Peter Lojok Longolangiro had complained that wild animals have destroyed his property 10th time without any compensation.
The Ugandan trapped the five ‘stubborn’ rats accused of eating his money and took them to Kotido Central Police Station, Uganda for detention and trial.
At the station, the businessman pulled another stunt by filing a complaint against Uganda WildLife Authority, demanding the WildLife Authority to compensate him for letting one of the species of what they should protect to destroy his valuables.
After hearing his complaints, police referred him to the resident state attorney for expert advice on the case. The District Police Commander at Kotido, Alphonse Ojangole, told UWA he had never come across such a case in his 12 years of service.
The resident state Attorney in Kotido, Anthony Obwonyo Jabwor, said the case lacks merit, saying it should only teach people, especially the business community to bank their money.
Longolangiro insisted that UWA should pay for the damage caused by the wild rats.
He noted that last year, he lost all his crops to elephants and other wildlife and nothing was done by UWA. Walter Odokorach, a Community warden in Kidepo wildlife reserve, said it’s unfortunate that Longolangiro has lost his savings to the rats.
