The former Second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, has been described a fearless fighter for justice.

In a tweet on Friday, Senator Shehu Sani, the former Kaduna Central Senator, said Mohammed was a dogged patriot and the conscience of the Kano people.

Sani made the remark while mourning Mohammed, whose death was reported on Friday.

The former lawmaker wrote: “Dr Junaid Mohammed; the Conscience of the people of Kano, patriot, dogged and fearless fighter for justice and a man of principles and conviction. May Allah grant him Aljanna firdausi. Amin. Inna lillahi wainna Illayhir rajiun.Amin.”

Mohammed, 73, died at an isolation centre, but did not test positive for Coronavirus.

His son, Suleiman who confirmed the death, said Junaid died on Thursday night February 18.

Before his death, Junaid was one of the founding members of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in 1976 under the leadership of the late Aminu Kano.

He also served as the national deputy chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the north-west.

Mohammed, a medical doctor, was born in Dala, Kano State.

He was a fierce critic of President Buhari’s government’s policies and a founding member of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in 1976, led by the late Aminu Kano.

The former lawmaker served as the National Deputy Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the North-West.
