Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) released report of COVID-19 for Saturday, April 3, without announcing any death.

In what appears as an oversight, NCDC failed to officially record the death of Yinka Odumakin, the spokesperson of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-cultural group, Straightnews has found out.

Earlier in the day, the demise of Odumakin had filtered the air that he died of COVID-19 complications at the Lagos State University Teaching COVID-19 Isolation Centre and Straightnews equally published the story.

However, NCDC tweeted ”On the 3rd of April 2021, 50 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria,’’ but announced no-death status in its official website.

A breakdown shows ”The 50 new cases are reported from 6 states- Lagos(27), Plateau (11), Bayelsa (7), Gombe (3), Nasarawa (1) and Ekiti (1).

”Till date, 163,113 cases have been confirmed, 151,853 cases have been discharged and 2,058 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

”A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities,’’ the public health agency reported.
