An All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker in the 26-member Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has resumed law-making duty.

Effiong Johnson, a member representing Mbo State Constituency in the seventh assembly, will compete the law-making business with the 24 members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the house.

Already, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is yet to conduct re-run election in the Essien Udim State Constituency for Nse Ntuen of APC and Esse G. Umoh of PDP.

The Speaker of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey administered oaths of Office and Allegiance to the Mbo lawmaker at 12:35 p.m after the commencement of plenary on Tuesday.

Johnson was recently declared winner of the 2019 House of Assembly Elections in Mbo by a Court of Appeal in Calabar, Cross River State.

The Court had nullified the election of the former Mbo lawmaker, Hon. Okon Frank of PDP, who was the Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum.

In his remarks, the Speaker said Johnson had furnished the House with relevant documents and a certified true copy of his Certificate of Return from the INEC, saying the House would always obey the Rule of Law which according to him, is the hall mark of democracy.

While congratulating the new lawmaker, Bassey urged other members of the House to give Johnson the necessary support to enable him to succeed in his new assignment.
