The 4th Ennin Akwa Afaha of Mboho Akwa Afaha, a socio-cultural organization, covering 686 gazetted villages of Afaha in Akwa Ibom State has emerged.
He is Edidem Raymond Inyang, who is also the Paramount Ruler of Onna Local Government Area.
Inyang who was presented to the people at the joint National Executive meeting, at Awa Ndon, Awa Clan, Onna, on Wednesday November 3 after coronation will succeed Ennin the third Eninn, the late Paramount Ruler of Eket, Edidem (Dr.) N. J. E. Oduenyie.
In his acceptance speech, Edidem Inyang pledged to take Akwa Afaha (Worldwide) to the next “Level,” and assured that he would use his good offices to reposition Afaha.
He enjoined the Akwa Afaha people to desist from unhealthy rivalry and contentions in order to attract capable hands to the organization.
The President of Mboho Akwa Afaha Worldwide, Eteidung Samuel Ekaso and the Secretary General, Elder Ifiok Udo in their separate speeches, described Edidem Inyang as “a square peg in a square hole” whose leadership prowess will catapult the organization to the next level.
The immediate past President of Mboho Akwa Afaha (Worldwide), Aniekan Abom Akpan lauded the efforts of the incumbent President, the Secretary General, and the entire National Executive Council for successful nomination of the 4th Ennin.
Abom Akpan saluted the courage of Ennin (designate) for accepting to provide leadership to the Afaha people despite his already crowded responsibilities.
He thanked all the attendees and prayed for the good health and long life of Ennin the 4th.
Among those who attended this important meeting of Afaha people were; Prof. Mathias Eka, Prof. Ukana Akpabio, Eteidung Enim who represented the Clan Head of Eket Afaha.
Others were the former Administrative Secretary of Mboho Akwa Afaha Worldwide, Eteidung Nyong Udo Obot; the Clan Head of Adat Ifang in Ukanafun; Akuku Alexander U. U. Ekpo; Eteidung Mfon Essien – Group Head of Afaha villages Nsit Atai, the Village Head of Ikot Enyiekop, and that of Idung Nneke, among others who represented the 686 gazetted villages of Afaha in Akwa Ibom State.
Article 4 sub 1 of the Constitution of Mboho Akwa Afaha published in 1993, states “as Ennin Akwa Afaha and President of the Supreme Council of Afaha people, he shall be the Philosophical Leader, the Patriarch, and Custodian of the Tradition and Culture of Afaha People. As President of the Supreme Council of Afaha People within and outside Akwa Ibom, the Ennin shall preside over Afaha important ceremonies, be at the forefront of Afaha people among others.”
