    Nigeria Records 16 New COVID-19 Deaths

    Nigeria recorded 16 new COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

    This is as Nigeria recorded 1,368 new cases of the pandemic on Tuesday, bringing overall number to 148,296.

    Anambra State, for the first time, led 27 states including Federal Capital Territory with 344 confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing total number to 1,615.

    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control tweeted ”On the 16th of February 2021, 1368 new confirmed cases and 16 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.’’

    It further wrote ‘’The 1368 new cases are reported from 28 states- Anambra (344), Oyo (172), FCT (148), Benue (107), Rivers (95), Ogun (59), Ondo (56), Ebonyi (53), Kaduna (52), Plateau (46), Kwara (36), Enugu (30), Akwa Ibom (26).

    Others were Osun (22), Edo (20), Abia (17), Kano (16), Borno (15), Cross River (10), Delta (8) Gombe (8), Imo (7), Ekiti (5), Sokoto (4), Jigawa (3), Bayelsa (3), Nasarawa (3), and Zamfara (3).

    According to the public health agency, ”Till date, 148296 cases have been confirmed, 124483 cases have been discharged and 1777 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory

    ”A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.

    ”Our discharges today includes community recoveries in Oyo (1,198), Lagos (227) and Kwara State (53), managed in line with guidelines.’’

    NCDC stated ‘’In collaboration with @CmulNigeria, @CDCgov & @ICAfricaNetwork, our Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Orange Network team, is conducting a 1-month IPC training for health workers across Nigeria

    ”This aims to build a network of certified IPC professionals. #SafeHCWSafePatient.

    ”#COVID19 patients under home-based care must monitor their symptoms, especially temperature & breathing.’’
