Nigeria recorded 11 deaths from the third wave of Delta variant of COVID-19 on August 2, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported.
In its website, NCDC reported that the country recorded 444 confirmed cases from 12 states and Federal Capital Territory.
Akwa Ibom State recorded 62 cases’ spike from the ravaging Delta variant of the pandemic, according to NCDC.
So far, the state has 2,687 confirmed cases, 724 patients were admitted, 1,937 discharged and 26 had died.

”Till date, 174759 cases have been confirmed, 165037 cases have been discharged and 2160 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory”’The 444 new cases are reported from 13 states-Lagos(275), Rivers (63), Akwa Ibom (62), Gombe (22), Ogun (8), FCT (4), Edo (3), Imo (2), Kano (1), Nasarawa (1), Sokoto (1), Jigawa (1), Ebonyi (1),’’ the public health agency stated.
It added ”A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities.’’
