Nigeria has recorded 163 more COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours and discharged 24 patients who have recovered from the virus.

In its Twitter handle, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), wrote that 11 states recorded the pandemic with Lagos leading the pack of 113 cases.

Other states were Kaduna with 21, Osun with eight, Ondo and Oyo with five, Ogun with three, Bayelsa and Taraba with two, Edo, Katsina, Plateau, Katsina and FCT each having one case.

With the new infections, Nigeria now has a total caseload of 60,266. Of that figure, 51,735 have recovered while 1,115 have, unfortunately, died.

Lagos State has remained the epicentre of the virus with nearly 20,022 cases.

Since the virus emerged in China late last year, the virus has killed more than one million worldwide, infected more than 36 million, and forced millions more out of work as the pandemic batters the global economy.
