Some Nigerian celebrities have slammed their colleagues for posting their bank accounts numbers on social media for friends and lovers to donate money to them.
The trend started by Davido, saw such actors as Destiny Etiko, Yul Edochie, P-Square and others asking for donations online.
Just like his colleague Davido, singer Paul Okoye has called for donations from his fans as he and his brother, Peter, celebrate their birthday today, November 18.
Meanwhile, Paul shared a photo of them on his Instagram page with account details and the caption: ”Starting from @obi_cubana and @judeengees even @davido let’s show @davido that 2 heads are better than 1….. everything na double double ”
Mavin Records owner, Don Jazzy, and singer Teni have decided to follow Davido’s footsteps by asking fans to donate to their course ahead of their birthdays.
Taking a cue from the development, Don Jazzy, and Teni have also taken to social media to solicit funds from friends and fans for their birthdays.
While Don Jazzy subtly told his fans that his birthday is just five days away from Davido’s own and commended him for his move.
Teni specifically asked for at least N250,000 each from Tiwa Savage, Simi, Yemi Alade, and her other friends.
Another Nollywood star who has caught the bug is this year’s Gulder ultimate search anchor, Kunle Remi, who took to his Instagram handle to share his account details saying: “If I have made you laugh at my TikToks at all, send me money. You cannot unlaugh all the laughs.”
However, actress and reality TV star, Ese Eriata, has berated her colleagues who have begun posting their account numbers on social media after Davido raised over N100 million in donations made by his friends and fans.
Ese wondered why her colleagues did not post their account numbers or solicit for funds before Davido did, adding that the singer has helped a lot of people and just wants them to return the favour.
Also, hilarious actor Uche Maduagwu has shared a video of him complaining about the new trend of celebrities soliciting funds online.
The video he shared is quite funny.
On her part, Cynthia Morgan is not backing down after she sent a subliminal message to Davido in a post and, this time, she’s choosing to be more direct with her sub.
The singer had gone on her Instagram Stories to write that if you have to compel people to celebrate you, then it means there’s nothing to be celebrated.
Considering that the post came after Davido called on his friends to celebrate him by sending him money, fans called out Cynthia and accused her of hating on Davido.
Cynthia responded, fully owning the “hate” and standing on her initial post.
She added that 1 million Naira is chicken change then added: “If you really rose by lifting others and you’re asking for 1 meter publicly then your boys are ungrateful… Poor things.”
She was making reference to the “we rise by lifting others” quote Davido used when requesting 1 million from his friends.
Cynthia also wrote: “Because say all of us they do music no mean say all of us na mate.”
Condemning the action too, actor Sam Nnabuike, better known as Sam Sunny, has slammed his colleagues who have been sharing their account details online so their friends and fans can send them money.
