The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Niger Delta, Senator Ita Enang, has knocked the lawmakers at the state and national levels for disappointing their people.

Enang, who spoke in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Thursday, at this year’s Correspondent’s Chapel week, lamented that the present legislators indulge in arbitrary approvals of supplementary budgets to the executive arm of government without scrutinising the account of previous budgets.

Speaking at the media roundtable and another lecture entitled: Assessing The Performance Of Akwa Ibom Legislators At the State And National Levels, noted that the lawmakers have become stooges in the hands of executives for personal gains.

Enang, who recalled that when he was a lawmaker in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, he led the House to oppose executive bills for the interest of the people.

He also cited the case at the National Assembly when the late former President of the Senate, Chuba Okadigbo passed the bill to establish the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) into law when President Olusegun Obasanjo refused to sign it into law, among others.
