A popular Nigerian pastor and On Air Personality have engaged in war of words over Bishop David Oyedepo.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries and Daddy Freeze, On Air Personality and leader of the Free the Sheeple movement have set the media space agog over uncomplimentary remarks and insults on one another.
Ibiyeomie who first set the house on fire Sunday during sermon cursed Freeze for ‘insulting’ his spiritual father, Bishop Oyedepo of Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel International.
Freeze, who is well known for heavily criticising Nigerian church leaders over tithes and other matters relating to the Christian faith, recently tackled Bishop Oyedepo for saying women should submit to their husbands.
He also lambasted Pastor Enoch Adeboye of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) over tithes and other matters relating to the Christian faith in Nigeria via his social media platforms.
Reacting to this, Pastor Ibiyeomie also placed a curse on the day the OAP was born and called him a ‘bastard’ for always speaking against the revered clergyman.
Ibiyeomie alleged that Freeze is not a Nigerian but a Somalian who was born inside a ship.
“Insult me I wouldn’t talk but insulting Oyedepo…that Bastard! Tell him, any day I hear him talk about Oyedepo….do they know his father? Does Daddy Freeze have a father? That half caste who is a Somalian. The day I hear him talk about Oyedepo again, I will deal with him. Oyedepo may not talk but I can’t be alive and you insult my father,” he fumed.
Continuing, the Pastor stated “Oyedepo may not talk but I can’t be alive while you insult my father. I curse the day he was born. I can’t be alive and you insult my father. I will tear you into pieces, you bastard!”
The visibly angry clergyman berated “People who have fathers don’t insult fathers. He is insulting him because he has no father. You can never insult a father if you have a father. He has no father.
On marriage, the clergyman knocked Freeze for failed marriage, saying “Man who cannot marry. He has no wife. He can’t manage his home and he is coming to talk on television. Is he not the wife who left him? A man who is a broadcaster? Does he have a good job?”
Reacting to the accusations, Freeze accused Ibiyeomie of racism, discrimination, and threat to life.
Freeze began in his video saying, “Even if you have a gun to my head, I’ll still speak the truth.”
He said he was “devastated” by Pastor Ibiyeomie’s video because of the “content” and how he went on to reveal what part of the video troubled him.
Freeze pointed out that he did not insult Bishop Oyedepo as Ibiyeomie claims, but simply drew the religious leader’s attention to a part of the bible.
The broadcaster said “Correcting the scripture is not an insult. Christ was criticized, Peter was criticized, Paul was criticized, even the Pharisees were criticized, so there’s no way you’re going to preach a message from the scriptures that you’ll not get criticisms.
Condemning Ibiyeomie for likening him to a Somalian in a derogatory manner, he said “I find it very devastating that just to get to me, Pastor Ibieomie will drag the whole Somalia nation.
“I’m very proud to associate myself with Somalians because they’re a beautiful people. It is hate speech to undermine them with derogatory words, like there’s anything wrong with the Somalians.
Pastor Ibiyeomie, I don’t know if you realize that a threat to life is a criminal offence. If anything happens to me, I hope you know who to hold responsible.
Freeze condemned “You went on again to undermine the noble profession of broadcasting. I’m a proud broadcaster for the last 25 years. I’ve dedicated my life to this beautiful, noble profession.
The OAP said he takes his children to the radio station to watch him work with the hopes that one or two would take over the profession.
He added that broadcasting is not a job to be ashamed of, stressing “I think you should apologize to every journalist, every broadcaster, for undermining our work.”
On being called a ‘half-caste,’ Freeze said the word is ‘racist’ and he asked Ibiyeomie to apologise to victims of racism.
Also on being called a ‘bastard’, Freeze said; “You say I’m not my father’s son. I put it to you to prove who my real father is”.
He queried Ibiyeomie if his utterances are in synchrony and symphony with the teachings of Christ.
