Some Nigerian pastors have torn the reputation of Pastor Chris Okotie, like a piece of cloth, into shreds over his tantrums and tirades on Prophet Temitope B. Joshua.
A few weeks ago, Prophet Joshua had died after conducting a church service at his church, several pastors had portrayed the deceased in a bad light.
Okotie had in a 75-minute video shared a cryptic post on his Facebook page in which he referenced a certain ‘’wizard of Endor” who assumed the title of ”Emmanuel.” He remarked that the wizard who assumed the title of Emmanuel had been consumed by divine indignation.
The general overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry, Prophet Chukwuemeka Odumeje, who fired the first salvo, warned Pastor Chris Okotie to stop talking evil about the dead.
The Prophet specifically warned Okotie, the founder of Household of God Church to desist from criticising Prophet Temitope Joshua, the late General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
In his Church service, Odumeje disdained Okotie thus ‘’Talking against it makes you more childish. Chris Okotie I’m still warning you. English, is not our own language, go and deliver yourself first,” threatening to kill him.
Odumeje made the threat while warning Okotie to desist from attacking deceased.
This was as Prophet Joshua Iginla, the General Overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, berated Pastor Okotie over his comments against the late Prophet Joshua.
Prophet Odumeje, in a Facebook church service monitored by our correspondent on Sunday, added that Okotie is in a far lesser position to analyse the lifetime of Joshua.
He said: “There is a man who doesn’t want the general to rest in peace and allow his family to mourn the general and the person is Chris Okotie. Young man, we have respected you enough, I have not seen you do anything in this life, save souls like TB Joshua did.
“And for you to come out to say TB Joshua was a devil and you began to analyse. Does answering Emmanuel mean I’m a devil? When I name my church synagogue because I have a right to bear the name of my father, does answering the name of Jesus mean you are Christ?
“When you can’t do what a man can do, you have no right to talk about him because you are not in the same level and you don’t have the same qualification and you are not in the same spiritual balance.
”Before you open your mouth to speak about a man you must have done what he did, but when you can’t do such things, then you are not qualified to talk against him because he is too far from you what you don’t understand don’t criticize it, what you need to do is to keep quiet.’’
Iginla also rebuked Nigerian pastors for their attacks on TB Joshua after he had died, insisting that Okotie and those pastors attacking cannot do the things the prophet did in a thousand years.
Addressing his members, the clergyman said: “When my friend Prophet TB Joshua died and was called to Glory. When I saw pastors writing all manner of jargons, I felt what a wicked generation!
“Pastors hated this man in his lifetime and even after God has called him to Glory, they still exhibit and execute such hatred even for the dead.
“I felt bad in my spirit when I heard Chris Okotie talking about the dead, a man who has gone to Glory. You are still bold to talk about him in a sarcastic manner and you feel you have the Holy Ghost inside you?
“Chris Okotie opens his mouth to attack Prophet TB Joshua, even after he has gone to Glory. What Prophet TB Joshua has done, if you are to live a thousand years, you can not undo what he has done.
“If you hate Prophet TB Joshua, what about his wife? What about his children? Do you extend your hatred to them? What kind of generation are we bringing? What kind of Christianity are we practising?
“What is the offence of Prophet TB Joshua? Just because he’s different from them.”
Meanwhile, The Senior Pastor of Divine Mercy Church, Olatobiloba Peters, had revealed that TB Joshua did not make it to heaven, despite his works.
Recall that Okotie, in a video message posted on Monday on the YouTube channel of the Household Church, Apokalupsis, entitled “The truth about TB Joshua,” had described the late televangelist who died in June, as a magician and a sorcerer.
He “claimed he is the one that the Lord has appointed in this generation to bring reconciliation between God and man.”
Okotie who had never hidden his animosity for Joshua when he was alive and had been a long-standing critic of his late colleague, had once described him as the “vicar of the devil on earth.”
He also likened Joshua to Bar-Jesus, a false prophet in the scriptures who equated himself with Jesus.
“Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus. What is the truth about TB Joshua? Who was he? Was he a product of Christianity? Or a practitioner of shamanism? Was he a servant of the Lord Jesus? Or some itinerant religious quack? Was he a true prophet, who was misunderstood? Or a hypocrite masquerading under the habiliment of the Faith?” he begins.
“Joshua claimed he is the one that the Lord has appointed in this generation to bring reconciliation between God and man,” he said.
“And he is not the first to propose such a ludicrous concept. Because even Jesu Oyingbo did the same thing, he calls himself Emmanuel. And we have the same thing with the entity in Calabar who used to call himself I Am.
“So, Joshua believes he is aloof from Jesus, that’s why he took the name Joshua because that’s the name that Jesus bore when he was right here on earth.
“The full name is Jehoshua, which means Jehovah is salvation. The name Joshua and the name Jesus are exactly the same.”
Continuing, the former presidential aspirant added, “So, he must stick with that appellation. He must call himself prophet so, so and so… So, he is a magician who claims to be a prophet but he is a false prophet.:
Quoting from John 8:32, Okotie said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Joshua took on the name because he believed he was another messiah.
“He believes that God sent him to our world to bring reconciliation between God and mankind, exactly the same way the Lord Jesus was sent, and that is why he took that name Joshua,” he noted.
