After months of agitations and clamour to rejig his administration and bring in new hands, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Thursday, sent names of seven Commissioners/Special Advisers- nominees to Akwa Ibom House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The nominees who will join as members of the State Executive Council are Prof. Eno James Ibanga, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University; Hon. Frank Archibong who doubles as Chairman of Eket Local Government Council and ALGON Chairman, and Comrade Ini Ememobong, the current Publicity Secretary of PDP in Akwa Ibom and Dr. Imo Moffat, a senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, University of Uyo.

Others are Dr. Ini Nathaniel Adiakpan, an educationist; Dr. Augustine Vincent Umoh, Provost, College of Health Science, University of Uyo and one-time state Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association; Mrs. Enobong Mbobo, and Elder Amanam Nkanga who is the younger brother of the two-term DG of the Governor’s Campaign Organization, Divine Mandate, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (retd).

At the plenary, Mrs. Mandu Umoren, Clerk of the House read the Governor’s letter sent to the house.

In his remark, Hon. Aniekan Bassey, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly accepted the letter and forwarded the same to House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petition for screening and recommendation.

Meanwhile, Elder lmoh Okon, the suspended Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, has been reinstated by the House of Assembly on Thursday’s plenary.

This was as Mrs. Emem Ibanga, the suspended Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, was reinstated on Tuesday.

The reinstatement of Okon followed the report of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

His suspension followed a series of petitions written against him by some councillors and other elected officials in the council.

He has, however, agreed to follow all stipulated financial guidelines for Local Government Councils in the state.

Okon has also been ordered to settle all financial entitlements for each of the elected officials before the end of their tenure and evidence of such payments should be forwarded to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
