Residents of Nnewi, a community in Anambra State on Sunday chased out a large number of herders in their community over what the residents described as part of their cleaning exercise.
Naija News learned that the residents in their large number chased the herders and their cattle out of their community.
This action may not unconnected with plans by the Federal Government to establish Ruga settlements for Fulani herdsmen in the country, a situation many fear may bring various communities at loggerhead with the herdsmen.
The residents armed with instrument line woods, matchets ordered the herders out of their community due to the spate of worrisome activities allegedly perpetrated by the herdsmen in the state.
A tweet obtained by Naija News also revealed that as part of the efforts to curtail the menace of the herdsmen activities in the state, the community have started considering the ban of the sale of cow meats in the community.
The tweet revealed that the community might also ban the sale and patronage of Suya meats, cow leg, cow tails and other forms of beef.
