    NSF: Akwa Ibom Joins First 10 In Medals Haul

    Akwa Ibom, one of Nigeria’s states, is among the first 10 leaders on the medals haul during the National Sports Festival 2020 holding at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City in Edo State.

    Akwa Ibom is occupying the seventh position after hauling 17 Gold, 21 silver and 40 bronze bringing the total to 78 prizes as at Tuesday, April 13.

    Delta State after winning139 Gold, 98 silver and 92 bronze is leader on the medals table.

    Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had announced N1 million prize for each winner of Gold medal during the competition, meaning that the winners of the state contingent have won N139 million.

    Edo State is trailing Delta after packing 118 Gold, 100 silver and 91 bronze.

    Bayelsa and Rivers States occupy third and fourth positions, showing Bayelsa winning 50 Gold, 49 silver and 55 bronze while Rivers has gotten 28 Gold, 30 silver and 51 bronze.

    Oyo and Lagos States stand on the fifth and sixth positions on the table. While Oyo won 27 Gold, 21 silver and 33 bronze, Lagos coast home with 24 Gold, 30 silver and 46 bronze.

    Ogun, Kano and Imo are occupying the eighth, ninth and 10th positions on the medals table.

    Ogun won 13 Gold, 16 silver and 34 bronze; Kano has 11 Gold, 21 silver and 33 bronze while Imo picked 9 Gold, 16 silver and 20 bronze.

    However, Jigawa and Taraba are yet to register their name on the medals table as of Monday evening.

    The competition that has been postponed more than three times is expected to be closed on Wednesday, April 14 by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
