Benue and Edo governors, Samuel Ortom and Godwin Obaseki, have condoled with their Sokoto State counterpart, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and families of the victims of Goronyo market attack.
No fewer than 40 persons were Sunday night killed by bandits at the popular and busy Goronyo market in Goronyo local Government Area of the state.
Ortom described the incident which left more than 40 persons dead and many others injured from the sporadic attacks as sad, unfortunate and shocking.
The Governor urged relevant security agencies in the state to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are apprehended and brought to justice.
He said itβs unacceptable, the growing terrorist acts by bandits who are gradually succeeding in destroying the unity and brotherliness of the country through acts of criminality on innocent citizens.
Governor Ortom called on the Federal Government to step up its strategies in combating insecurity threatening the corporate existence of the country so that the citizens will begin to live and peace and harmony where development will thrive.
Meanwhile, Edo State Governor, Obaseki, has commiserated with the people and government of Sokoto State, over the dastardly attack in Goronyo Market by bandits.
Obaseki, in a statement in Benin Tuesday, described the incident as callous, painful, and regrettable and prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims of the attack.
According to him, βWe are deeply saddened by the terror attack in Goronyo Market, Sokoto State, which has thrown the entire country into mourning. Our hearts are with Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the people of the state, as they go through this difficult phase.
βWe join all meaning Nigerians in calling on the security agencies to intensify efforts in reining in the marauding bandits so as to prevent this painful loss of our citizens to banditry and terrorism.
βOn behalf of the government and good people of Edo State, I commiserate with the people of Sokoto State and the Governor over this painful incident.β
