OurMumuDonDo To Nigerians: We’re Sorry For Charlyboy’s Alleged Bribery Mess

Members of OurMumuDonDo Movement, a good governance advocacy group, have apologised to Nigerians over the recent bribery scandal involving their leader, Charles Oputa a.k.a Charlyboy.

A viral audio tape had surfaced on the internet containing sound bite of Charlyboy allegedly admitting during a conversation with an ex-member of the group, Deji Adeyanju, that he had financial dealings with the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, while he (Deji) was incarcerated in Kano Central Prisons for 78 days.

In his reaction, Adebayo Raphael, the National Secretary of OurMumuDonDo, in a statement, yesterday, said members of members were disappointed by their leader’s alleged confession to have been compromised by the spokesman of Buhari Campaign Organisation, to make a video against the political interests of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before the just-concluded general elections.

Adebayo said, “It is with a heavy and pertinent heart that I offer an unreserved apology, on behalf of myself and the other members of the OurMumuDonDo Movement, to the Nigerian people who we have hitherto proclaimed to represent in all our actions and activities as a pressure group for the last three years.

“My sincere hope is that you all will view this development as a necessary event needed to sanitise our civic space and re-invigorate our collective commitment to the struggle for social change.

“OurMumuDonDo Movement will commence a formal inquiry into the body of allegations that had been made public in recent days, and the most appropriate decision will be determined by the Board of Trustees in line with the group’s constitution.

“I will like to emphasise that the purpose for which OurMumuDonDo Movement was founded has not changed. If there are black sheep in the group, working against the group’s objectives, we will find out and deal with them accordingly,” he added.
