For a second time, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the general overseer of the Fountain of Life Church in Lagos, has lost two wives within an interval of 16 years.
He took to social media to mourn his wife, Nomthi, who died Tuesday, November 9 after a two-year battle with cancer.
Odukoya lost Bimbo, a televangelist and motivational speaker, who boarded Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145, on December 10, 2005 and the airliner crashed during landing at Port Harcourt International Airport but Bimbo died from injuries on December 11, 2005.
In 2010, Pastor Odukoya married Rosemary Nomthi, a South African.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Pastor Odukoya said Nomthi gave him 11 beautiful years of marriage and two boys.
He wrote ”With deep regret and gratitude to God, I have to announce the passing of my wife, Pastor Nomthi Odukoya.
She battled cancer for the better part of two years, she stood on the Word of God, and she fought.
She gave me 11 beautiful years of marriage and two wonderful boys, who I know will be very significant in life.
I loved her with all my heart, but who am I to fight with the will of God. The truth is, at one point in our lives, we all will have to say goodbye. So for now, till we meet again in glory, Goodbye Nomthi.”
Meanwhile, Pastor Laurie Idahosa, has taken to her Instagram page to mourn her friend and colleague in the vineyard of God, Pastor Nomthi Odukoya.
In a post shared on her page, Mrs Idahosa mentioned that some people would say Nomthi’s death means she won in Christ. She wondered why winning in Christ needs to be painful and added that someday God will answer this for her.
She wrote ”I loved her. My friend, my sister, my “fellow immigrant,” as we used to call each other. We have too many happy memories together to recount. She’s someone I could call on anytime and she would be there for me. I tried my best to be that same kind of friend to her.
When she told me about her cancer, almost 2 years ago during the early days of Covid, I held back the tears. I swallowed them as best I could, while showing her a strong front and being her prayer partner. She was strong, she was resolute, she fought… and some will say she won, because she’s now with Jesus.
If this is winning, why does it come with so much pain? One day, God will answer this question for me.
Our prayers are steadfast with Pastor Taiwo @pastortaiwo and the entire family. May God comfort all who knew and loved her. To know her was to love her.”
