    Police Arrest 15, Declare Councillor, 13 Others Wanted For Allegedly Killing Monarch In Akwa Ibom

    Akwa Ibom State Police Command has spread its dragnet to arrest the fleeing Supervisory Councillor for Finance and 13 others over alleged killing of a village head and another person in Okobo local government area of the state.

    The village head, one Chief Henry Esimeme of Nsie Esimeme, and one one Sunday Walter Ukoh were reportedly killed on Sunday.

    It was alleged that the former youth president of Nsie village, one Aniefiok Mkpo-Abasi a.k.a King of Boys died on July 12, 2020 on suspicion of drinking some local gins mixed with herbal concoction in the house of one Sunday Walter Ukoh of Nsie.

    The Akwa Ibom Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Frederick N-Nudam, in a press release issued Monday, said the Supervisory Councillor for Finance in the Council, Nkereuwem John allegedly teamed up with Youth Leader, Usong Morrison John to mastermind the crime.

    N-Nudam said the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal ordered the arrest of 15 suspects in two separate operations on 15th and 19th July, 2020 for allegedly taking laws into their hands by avenging the death of a former Youth President of the Village, Aniefiok Mkpo-Abasi.

    “The Police Command received a disturbing report of mayhem in Nsie village occasioned by an incident in which the former youth president of Nsie village, one Aniefiok Mkpo-Abasi a.k.a King of Boys was alleged to have died on 12th July 2020 on suspicion of drinking some local gins mixed with herbal concoction in the house of one Sunday Walter Ukoh of the same address.

    “Following the incident, some disgruntled youths and elders of Nsie village under the aegis of the youth president, one Usong Morrison John and Nkereuwem John the Supervisory Councilor for Finance, Okobo Local Government Area arose from a meeting held at the village square and allegedly attacked and killed the village head of Nsie, one Chief Henry Esimeme, and Sunday Walter Ukoh.”

    “To this end, the Police Command has declared the following indigenes of Nsie village, Okobo Local Government Area wanted: Nkereuwem John ‘m’ – Supervisory Councilor for Finance, Okobo L.G.A; Bassey Okon, a.k.a Ajasco ‘m’; Kingsley Enefiok Mkpo-Abasi ‘m’; Victor Esereke ‘m’; Philip Akpe a.k.a Bully ‘m’ and Edet Okon Abang ‘m’

    Victor Edet Daniel ‘m’, Ikem Fidelis ‘m’, Usong Morrison John – Youth Leader; Edet Sunday Nyong ‘m’; Nkereuwem Okon Peter ‘m’; Unwana Okon Oyonowi ‘m’; Emmanuel Sunday Esio ‘m’ and Chief Paul Uloh ‘m’,” the PPRO stated.

    N-Nudam added “The Commissioner of Police appeals to the good people of Akwa Ibom State, particularly the indigenes of Nsie village to volunteer useful information on the whereabouts of the above wanted persons for arrest and investigation.”
