A jobless Indian who is now serving more than 1,000 years’ jail for raping his step daughter has applied to set aside his conviction and sentence.
Lawyer K A Ramu said the accused had filed a notice of appeal to the High Court from the Kajang Prison recently.
On January 27, the Klang Sessions Court sentenced the man to 1,050 years in jail and 24 strokes of the rotan after he pleaded guilty to raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter 105 times over a period of two years.
Judge Datin M. Kunasundary ordered the accused to serve 10 years’ jail and two strokes of the rotan for each rape charge, with the sentences to run consecutively from the date of his arrest, January 20.
