Tons of controversies are being reeled out after the death and burial of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, prompting suspicions and deep concerns among his siblings and fans.
The talented music sensation died on Tuesday, September 12 and was buried on Wednesday, September 13 in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
Following the death of the singer, videos have emerged of distant relatives of the deceased trying to seize the late singer’s properties from his wife, Omowunmi.
Among the first viral videos was of an elderly man, supposedly a family member, captured saying the singer’s wife should not be trusted.
“The unfortunate incident has happened, and there’s nothing we can do about it,” the aged man said.
“However, this should be a lesson for everyone present here. You have to stay focused and don’t trust the wife; may God comfort you all,” he added.
In another video seen by Vanguard on Thursday, Mohbad’s sister-in-law stated intricate accounts of a dispute between Mohbad’s father and his mother-in-law regarding a property the late artiste had purchased.
She also warned Mohbad’s family to desist from victimising her sister, Omowunmi, a plea that has ignited fervent reactions.
MohBad’s sister-in-law accused the late singer’s family of attempting to lay claim to his assets, currently held by his wife, Omowunmi.
Earlier, in one of the viral videos, an alleged elder of Mohbad’s family was seen telling the sympathisers during the burial that the singer’s wife could not be trusted.
The fresh video that surfaced on Thursday had MohBad’s sister law who spoke in both Yoruba and English languages, saying there was a dispute between the singer’s father and his mother-in-law over the land owned by the deceased.
She said, “He took the land from Mohbad before he died. He was buried on the land.”
Mohbad’s sister-in-law questioned why the singer’s family chose not to give him a proper burial in a suitable cemetery, preventing Nigerians from paying their last respects before hastily burying him.
She stated, “MohBad’s father fought my mum over the land and took it from her. MohBad’s mother is an easygoing person. She’s not troublesome.
“My mother had to release the land for MohBad’s father. He took the land from MohBad before he died, and he was buried on the same piece of land.”
“Why couldn’t they bury MohBad at Lekki cemetery that befitted his status? Would his wife have the pride to take their child to see MohBad’s burial ground later in the future? Why didn’t they allow Nigerians to pay their last respect before they buried him?”The woman queried.
“You know they wouldn’t have the guts to ask for the estate from his wife if they didn’t lay him to rest. That was why they rushed his burial. We’re not after MohBad’s estate. What I’m concerned about is MohBad’s wife’s safety and Liam’s safety. They are my own priority. My younger sister didn’t know anything about MohBad’s death,” she added.
Mohbad’s father, in video, publicly accused the singer’s wife and her mother of holding onto Mohbad’s phone and property documents. He’s seeking assistance, alleging that his in-laws are using their power and connections to oppress him.
He reiterated that he deserves an access to the assets because he raised Mohbad by himself.
In another controversy, Mohbad was said to have forked over a hefty sum as a down payment for a Range Rover just days prior to his untimely demise.
Family members residing in the same locality as Mohbad’s father gathered at his residence, agitated by the substantial sum the late singer had deposited with an auto dealership for the acquisition of a fresh automobile.
Popular skit maker Cute Abiola, who shared a close friendship with Mohbad, had earlier disclosed that the singer had plans to acquire a new Range Rover Velar on Friday, September 15, just before the tragedy struck.
He shared that the singer had deposited half of the funds to Unique Motors for the purchase but tragically passed away on September 12 before completing the transaction.
In the viral video, the family members could be heard pledging to assist Mohbad’s father in making sure Unique Motors gets in touch with him to refund the money he had deposited for the car.
Earlier, the sister-in-law of MohBad, had accused his family of quickly laying him to rest, without giving Nigerians the opportunity to pay last respect.
The woman also alleged that MohBad’s father fought her mother to seize the piece of land where the singer was eventually buried.
As Nigerians continue to mourn the singer, his distant relatives have engaged in a rift over his estate, shifting blame over the cause of his death.
An old video of singer Mohbad recounting his ordeal and how he was snitched on by his colleague, Zinolesky, has surfaced online.
In the old video that surfaced online, Mohbad was filmed on a hospital bed, weeping as he recounted how he was accused of doing drugs and made to take a substance.
‘’They gave me something to drink. That I do drugs. That I should drink the water and the water is inside bottled plastic. I am the only one that drank the water. They didn’t give any other person. The God that created me sees me. I cannot lie. I was trying to save Zino when they hit me with a gun. Zino snitched on me when we got there,” Mohbad swore as he began to cry.

The father of late singer, Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad, has said that Naira Marley cannot be blamed for the death of his son.
In a fresh interview, Mr Joseph Aloba said Naira Marley was not present when his son, Mohbad died.
The distraught father said Mohbad was his friend, helper and the light of his family. When asked what might have killed his son, Mr Aloba said;
‘‘The only revelation that I have on that very day is that a day to his death, I had a dream. I saw someone in the front of my house holding a gun. In the dream, I dodged the bullet. On that very Tuesday, I decided to stay at home, praying concerning the dream I had. By 4 O’clock, they called me that I should come to VI to meet him at the hospital.
‘‘On my way there, at the bus stop, they called me again that I should go back home and that everything has been settled. As an elderly person, I knew that there was something behind that. That is not something they can tell me at the bus stop. So I refused. I now went back to his house. I reached his house. He was already dead.”
However, an angry fan of late singer, Mohbad, has said that going forward, he and other aggrieved fans of the singer will destroy any place that Naira Marley’s music is being played in Ikorodu.
