Six men arrested in connection with the alleged gang-r3pe of a 13-year-old boy would soon appear in court, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command said.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, disclosed this during his maiden briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Ikot Akpan-Abia, Uyo on Monday, January 13, 2025.

According to the CP, the victim, who has been rescued, was repeatedly s0domised for three years by the suspects.

Azare added that the victim was rescued following the arrest of the suspects.

“On 8th January 2025, based on information received from concerned journalists, a 13-year-old child reported being raped repeatedly for about three years by about four different men (s0domy), the operatives of the Command swung into action immediately and arrested one Okwudili Levi Okeke AKA Eze ‘m’ (aged 34 years), Idara Itam Daniel ‘m’ (aged 23 years), David Udoh James ‘m’ (aged 23 years), Udofia Edem Udosen ‘m’ (aged 29 years), David Bassey Bassey ‘m’ (aged 26 years), and Daniel Jacob Edet ‘m’ (aged 30 years),” the CP stated.

“Investigation revealed that Okwudili Okeke was recruited into s0domy and has had anal s3x with several men in the state.

“This is a crime against humanity and will not be condoned.

Suspects will soon be prosecuted after completion of the investigation.”

Speaking on kidnapping/rescue of kidnapped victim, Azare recalled that ”Sometime in December 2024, a distress call was received that a Director with the Ministry of Justice, Akwa Ibom State, and his niece (name withheld) were kidnapped by five armed men.

‘‘Our operatives in the Command immediately swung into action and busted the kidnappers’ den in a thick forest located within Ikot Ukpong Village, Abak Local Government. A thorough search was conducted within the forest, and the victims were rescued unharmed from an abandoned soak-away .

‘‘The victim’s car was also recovered by the police along Etinan Road where it had been abandoned. Also, the Toyota Sienna vehicle used to kidnap the victims was also recovered while 2 of the suspects were neutralized. Further Investigation led to the arrest of one Ability Etim Samuel ‘m’ (aged 45 years) and one David Vincent Samuel ‘m’ (aged 36 years).

They are currently been investigated with the view to making more arrest of their gang members and recover their weapons.’’

On cultism/unlawful possession of firearm, the Commissioner of Police stated that ‘‘On 2nd January 2025, based on credible information at the Command’s disposal, operatives of the Command arrested one Victor Saviour Nwabara ‘m’, a National Diploma student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Asura, Ikot Ekpene LGA. Investigation revealed he is the leader of the Ku Klux Klan Confraternity.

‘‘Items recovered from the suspect include: one locally made pistol, three rounds of live cartridges, talisman and other substances suspected to be charms

‘‘The suspect will face trial in court.’’

In addition, he said ‘‘On 4th January 2025, at about 23:30hrs, based on credible information at the Command’s disposal, operatives of the Command arrested one Etinyene Joseph Bassey ‘m’. Investigation revealed that the suspect is the head of the Italian Mafia secret cult confraternity controlling the entire Nwaniba, Anua Offot, Use Offot, and Akamba Nsukara general areas.

‘‘Investigation also revealed that in August 2024, the said suspect was accosted by a police patrol team along Use Offot with a locally made pistol neatly concealed in a black bag, but he escaped by jumping over a fence.

‘‘Items recovered from the suspect include: one locally made pistol, one sharp jack knife.’’
