    So Far, Nigeria’s COVID-19 Death Toll Reaches 1,710

    For more than one year since the outbreak of the pandemic in Nigeria, COVID-19 death toll in the country has reached 1,710 from 36 states including Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has confirmed.

    This is as the country recorded eight new deaths  from the ravaging virus on Thursday.

    On new confirmed infections, NCDC has confirmed 938, bringing the overall in the country to 143,516.

    NCDC tweeted ”On the 11th of February 2021, 938 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.”

    According to the public health agency, ”The 938 new cases are reported from 20 states- Lagos (236), FCT (123), Plateau (92), Benue (63), Katsina (53), Oyo (50), Osun (45), Kaduna (43).’’

    Others are Edo (33), Ogun (31), Ebonyi (31), Akwa Ibom (30), Kano (26), Gombe (18), Bauchi (16), Delta (12), Imo (11), Cross River (10), Rivers (10), Niger (5).

    It noted ”Till date, 143516 cases have been confirmed, 118012 cases have been discharged and 1710 ‘’deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    ”A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.

    ”Our discharges today includes 536 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines,’’ NCDC added.
