A 23-year-old man has allegedly murdered his 55-year-old mother, Christiana Sunday Isaac, over denial him of food in Akwa Ibom State.
It was gathered that Akaninyene Sunday Isaac, an indigene of Uruk Uso Otoro village in Abak Local Government Area of the state macheted his mother to death for starving him of food for three days.
Family sources told journalists in Uyo that Isaac usually requested money from his mother who always granted his request, but on that fateful day, she denied his request, saying there was no money.

Her refusal was said to have infuriated his son who hacked her with a machete. She was said to have died before she could get medical attention.
The source said the remains of the woman had been deposited in a mortuary.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Odiko Macdon, said the suspect who confessed to the crime was arrested on October 11, 2023 and would be charged once investigation on the matter was concluded.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Akaninyene Sunday Isaac, ‘m’, aged 23, for murdering his biological mother, one Christiana Sunday Isaac ‘f’, 55 years old, both of Uruk Uso Otoro village in Abak Local Government Area.
“Operatives of Abak Division arrested the suspect on the 11th of October.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and alleged that his mother failed to give him food for three days, hence he used a machete to inflict grievous injuries on her, leading to her death,” he stated.
