    Akakan Umoh

Arise Television news anchor, Rufai Oseni has queried the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for recording 1,219 votes in a polling unit with only 211 valid votes being cast from 213 accredited voters out of 345 registered voters.

Rufai who raised the alarm in a post on his X handle on Monday following the local council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which was conducted on Saturday, condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over what he described as ‘‘manipulation in the election in favour of the APC.’’

The controversy surfaced after result sheets from the Idoro Primary Health Centre polling unit in Kwali Area Council showed the APC garnering 1,219 votes, despite only 211 valid votes being cast from 213 accredited voters out of 345 registered voters.

This was as APC tightened its grip on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general election, winning five of the six Area Councils in the nation’s capital.

According to Rufai, the figures exceeded the total ballots issued by more than five times, pointing to a clear case of vote inflation.

Rufai described the tally as “a blatant attempt to subvert democracy” and called on INEC to urgently clarify how such impossible results were recorded.

“Registered voters: 345 Total no. Of accredited voters: 213. Total no. Of ballots issued: 213 Total no. Of unused ballots: 132 Spoilt ballots: Nil. Rejected ballots: 2. Total votes cast: 213. Total VALID VOTES: 211 APC scored 1,212 votes in same unit. Origirigi,” the journalist wrote.

“Votes cannot exceed accredited voters by over five times. Such discrepancies erode public trust and threaten the credibility of our elections,” he added.

Meanwhile, VeryDarkMan fired shots at authorities after spotting the poor state of a public school used as a voting centre in Abuja Municipal Area Council.

Social media activist VeryDarkMan called out Nigerian authorities after observing the poor condition of a public school being used as a voting centre during the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election.

Reacting to the state of the facility, he questioned why government schools are often left in bad shape, yet are conveniently used whenever elections come around.
“You see why I keep saying the Nigerian government knows what they’re doing. They won’t fix government schools, but when it’s time for elections, they still make use of the same schools.”
His comment has sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians debating the condition of public infrastructure and the government’s priorities when it comes to education and electoral processes.
The video has since gained traction, drawing mixed reactions from supporters and critics alike.
