Governor Udom Emmanuel has tasked the members of the inaugurated Projects Verification and Compilation Committee to carry out their assigned duty with utmost commitment to get accurate number of projects, level of work and cost of execution.

Emmanuel, who inaugurated the committee on Monday at Government House, Uyo, said it was a step towards fulfilling his administration’s promises of displaying transparency and integrity in governance of the state, adding that it was imperative to account for the state funds expended on investments and projects execution.

While charging heads of government institutions to co-operate with the committee by furnishing the members with accurate information and documents, he expressed hope of a thorough report that can be ascertained by the public and put an end to speculations occasioned by misinformation.

The governor congratulated the committee members for emerging as individuals entrusted with the huge responsibility of analyzing the achievements of the state administration in its first term, and directed them to ensure submission of the report before May 29, 2019.

He urged the committee compile projects executed by his administration since its inception four years ago.

The committee has Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen, the State Commissioner for Works as Chairman, while Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, the state Accountant-General is to serve as secretary.

Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan, Permanent Secretary, Governor’s Office; Mr. Effiong Essien, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Barrister Janet Nsemeke Daniel, the Secretary, Finance and General Purposes Committee, FGPC are members of the committee.

In a chat with the Government House correspondents after the inauguration, Inyangeyen, committee Chairman, said despite the gigantic nature of the task, the committee would double up efforts to meet the deadline to justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor.

He commended Governor Emmanuel for finding them worthy to carry out such assignment, noting that the report will supersede the preliminary compendium of the Ministry of Works on projects implementation in the Emmanuel administration.
