Air of uncertainty seems to be surrounding the conjugal bliss between Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the alleged new wife, Princess Ashley Afolashade Afolakemi.
Prophetess Naomi (as she is popularly known) herself confirmed the news on Instagram on Thursday and cleared a few things up that the marriage of the first-class Yoruba monarch was over.
Queen Naomi said she went into the marriage with love in her heart and a willingness to serve.
She said that she did her best to “endure” and “smile through the struggles” but she has now decided to leave her three years marriage.
The prophetess said her decision to leave has nothing to do with the fact that the Ooni of Ife is married to another queen.
Dispelling the rumours that she had another child, a daughter, she said the girl is her niece and her son for the king is the only child she’s ever had.
“At this moment, I announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife,” she wrote.

However, in a swift reaction, the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, distilled the news shared by Queen Naomi that she has separated from the monarch, describing it as untrue.
The Ooni’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare in an interview with Vanguard, said ”This is not the first time such rumours had been peddled.
There was a time it was reported that she left the palace and the next thing, she gave birth. So, the story is not true and it should not be taken seriously.”
Recall that Oba Enitan Ogunwusi has been married three times so far, though Olori Naomi mentioned that the Ooni had “side attractions” during their marriage but she was the “only married wife”.
The Ooni first got married in 2008, before he became King.
His first wife was Adebukola Bombota. They divorced years down the line.
In 2016, shortly after becoming King, the Ooni took Benin indigene, Olori Wuraola Zainab, as wife. The marriage crashed in 2017 without a child.
A year later, in 2018, the Ooni married a popular prophetess, Olori Naomi Silekunola. The marriage crashed today, Dec. 23, 2021, one year after they welcomed their son.
The first-class Yoruba monarch has a 29-year-old daughter with Omolara Olatunbosun though they never got married. They were both teenagers when the daughter was conceived.
