The match-day 4 fixture between Dakkada and Remo Stars was embroiled in controversy as Fans and officials of the Uyo-based club were caught in video footages assaulting officials of visiting Remo Stars and an assistant referee at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo during their clash on Sunday.

The League Management Company on Wednesday announced the immediate expulsion of Sunday Etefia, the Dakkada’s assistant coach, who was seen on video slapping a match official.
Reacting, the state government in a release dated January 6, 2022 and signed by the state’s Director of Sports, Ifiok Duff, said the ministry frowned on the unprofessional behaviour of the club management and suspended some members of the technical crew.
“Following the gross dereliction of duty and mismanagement culminating in the fine and banishment of the club to Benin City by the League Management Company, Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Youth and Sports has suspended the management and technical crew of Dakkada FC indefinitely,” the statement read.
“The ministry frowns on the unprofessional manner the club management handled match protocols before, during and after the Nigeria Professional Football League match-day 4 encounter against Remo Stars of Ikenne last Sunday in Uyo, which led to the assaulting of an assistant referee by one of the assistant coaches of the team after the match.
“The ministry says the move has become necessary to further demonstrate that the people of Akwa Ibom State have zero tolerance for indiscipline and barbarism, as well as other acts which are capable of casting opprobrium on the image of sports in the state.”
Meantime, coach Windy Abasiakan, Daniel Japhet, Etido Inyang and Edidiong Stephen are the officials drafted to help in running the club in the interim.
